As part of its longstanding partnership with World Rugby, TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper for Rugby World Cup 2023, which will take place in France from 8 September to 28 October. Rugby is an uncompromising sport with bold values, a true reflection of the spirit that has driven this watchmaking brand since its inception. We invite you to explore the rich history of TUDOR, the Rugby World Cup, and the infamous All Blacks team with exquisite TUDOR black dial timepieces.
With 30 players operating at peak performance on the field each battling to score a try against their opponents, rugby is the ultimate team sport. Requiring speed, power and daringness, it also demands a unified spirit.
It was these noble values and the sport’s daring image – which together reflect the uncompromising watchmaking philosophy that has defined TUDOR since 1926 – that led the Swiss brand to join forces with World Rugby in 2017 as part of its #BornToDare campaign
A FOURTH RUGBY WORLD CUP™ FOR THE ALL BLACKS
The 10th edition of the Rugby World Cup – the world’s third largest sporting event, held every four years – will take place in France for the first time since 2007 and is set to be the best one yet. The competing teams include the famous All Blacks, proudly representing New Zealand as three-time World Champions (1987, 2011, 2015), and looking to lift the Webb Ellis Cup again. TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper for both the tournament and the All Blacks team, whose history extends back more than a century. They are one of the most successful and legendary teams in world sport with a winning Test record of more than 77 percent. As a group, they push the game to new heights, passing on the guardianship of the legend to each new generation of players. The All Blacks show they are ready for anything when they perform the haka, the world-famous, awe-inspiring Māori war dance before every Test match.
TUDOR Black Dials
BLACK BAY CHRONO
A stunning steel model with a reworked case and two dial options, matt black or opaline, with contrasting sub-counters in the purest tradition of the sports chronograph.
The fixed bezel in stainless steel with a tachymetric scale insert in black anodised aluminium completes the distinguished appearance of this sporty Black Bay Chrono.
BLACK BAY PRO
A technical model with a whole new aesthetic. Featuring a 39-millimetre diameter, a fixed steel bezel and a Manufacture Calibre with built-in GMT function.
Black Bay Pro is a model with a dual time zone feature, a technical complication that establishes local time without losing sight of the time in another time zone. Compact, robust and sporty, this model boasts many unique aesthetic details and celebrates the spirit of the technical watches that TUDOR has produced for professionals throughout its history.
RANGER
Marking the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition, the Ranger is rooted in the spirit of daring adventure.
The Ranger model respects the aesthetic standards established in the course of its history, especially its dial with Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, whilst incorporating new state-of-the-art technical elements, in particular a high-performance Manufacture Calibre and a TUDOR “T-fit” clasp with rapid adjustment system.
PELAGOS
A magnificent example of a tool watch and the symbol of a lifestyle made up of aquatic adventures, TUDOR Pelagos is one of the most complete traditional mechanical divers’ watches on the market
The Pelagos model also stands out with its titanium bracelet featuring a steel folding clasp with a unique auto-adjustable spring mechanism developed and patented by TUDOR. This technical system allows the bracelet to be adjusted during the dive through contraction when the combination is compressed due to water depth. In turn, there is reduction in volume, and conversely, expansion, when the pressure decreases again during the diver’s return to the surface.
BLACK BAY BRONZE
The famous Black Bay Bronze model, winner of the “Petite Aiguille” prize at the 2016 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and a symbol of TUDOR’s naval heritage.
the Black Bay Bronze model features a dial inspired by the TUDOR divers’ watches produced in the 1950’s. It also adopts the characteristic angular hands known to collectors as “snowflake” that appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalogue. Finally, the unprotected winding crown, like the holes drilled across the horns, are typical features of the first generations of TUDOR divers’ watches.
BLACK BAY 31/36/39/41
TUDOR presents an alternative version of its Black Bay line in steel with a fixed bezel. All fitted with Manufacture Calibres, the models come in four sizes, with a five-link bracelet and clasp with rapid adjustment.
The Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models bring a unique aesthetic to the Black Bay line. The curved cases feature a combination of finishes that elevates the watch in a contemporary fashion and offers a design language that slightly departs from the brand’s iconic tool watch spirit to embrace a sophisticated, versatile, unisex chic look and feel.
