Solitaire, brilliant cut diamond engagement rings are always popular, however, every year there are ring trends which are often founded by celebrities and the catwalk. 2018 is no exception to this, and below we explore some of this year’s hottest engagement ring trends, including three stone rings and oval shaped stones. Whether you’re planning on popping the question and need some ring inspiration, or you are looking for ideas for when you and your partner go shopping together, take a look below and see which beautiful engagement rings to adorn your ring finger with this year and beyond.
Three stone rings
With Meghan Markle currently sporting a three-stone engagement ring, this style is guaranteed to be popular for a long time to come. Three-stone engagement rings are actually a very classic style, however they can be personalised well with any choice of diamond cut, setting and colour. A three-stone ring with pear shaped diamonds would be highly on-trend throughout 2018. You can shop our three stone engagement rings, here.
Rose gold rings
Traditionally, engagement rings are made from gold, silver and platinum but now there’s a new colour trend in town, and it’s the colour that is popular for everything at the moment, from headphones to desk organisers, to jewellery. Rose gold is a real favourite, and a trend which looks to be here to stay. One particular favourite to look out for is a rose gold solitaire engagement ring with micro-pavé shoulder detailing.
Pear shaped diamond rings
Pear shaped diamonds are back, and more popular than ever. The pear is a great shape for getting more for your carat, as a pear diamond tends to appear larger than it is, and the pear halo engagement ring (see above) is a particular favourite this year, creating a floating effect with the main stone above the smaller surrounding stones.
Rings with oval shaped stones
Oval diamond engagement rings have recently been spotted on many celebrity ring fingers, including Blake Lively, Kirsten Dunst, Serena Williams and Ashley Greene. This trend is predicted to continue throughout 2018 and gain further popularity, which is no doubt fuelled by the fact an oval diamond looks larger than its equivalent diamond cut into other shapes. It’s also a lovely, simplistic shape which will be popular with minimalists.
Rings with coloured gemstones
In January 2018 alone, celebrities were loving engagement rings featuring coloured gemstones. Gwyneth Paltrow was proposed to with a classic blue sapphire, while Princess Eugenie was spotted wearing a beautiful pink padparadscha sapphire on her ring finger. Coloured precious stones are here to stay this year. Which is your favourite?
Ring stacks
Throughout 2018 it is thought that the playful ring stack craze will continue, but it is now branching out from costume jewellery and is to include fine jewellery in the form of engagement and wedding rings. This is a truly modern look, and is delightfully customisable. Not only do you get to choose more rings for your ring finger, but you can also switch them around to suit your mood and outfit.
