Sneaking into a Christmas party, Rebecca hadn’t expected the meet the one. Especially as it wasn’t exactly her ‘work’ party. In fact, Rebecca was part of another team, but, feeling the festive spirit, decided to swing by – and thank goodness she did. It was there that she met Alex, 5 faithful years ago and one date a week later – the couple would be going to their next Christmas parties together.
Holidaying in Cape Town, Rebecca and Alex shared some of the most amazing experiences – With perhaps the most overwhelming of all to come a little into the vacation. During the first week, they had hiked up Table Mountain, received by breath-taking views.
Fond of this spot, the pair were travelling back from a Safari when Alex made a winning suggesting: that they take a cable car that evening up the mountain to see the sun set over South Africa. Cue a bottle of champagne, sitting on the edge of the mountain overlooking Camps Bay and Alex took the opportunity to get down on one knee and propose.

Rebecca’s resounding ‘YES!’ was met with cheers and clapping – with the moment caught candidly on camera by a looker on. Happy tears at the height of the world ensured that this would be just one of the couple’s happiest memories to date.
Alex had chosen the Daphne Platinum engagement ring which showcased a round, brilliant cut solitaire diamond surrounded by platinum. The key to the perfect proposal is the magic and wonder inspired – since Cape Town had been a popular holiday spot for Rebecca’s family and her grandmother would tell stories of Table Mountain, the place held a special significance.
“My Dad’s family are from Africa so they used to go to Cape Town on holiday quite a lot. My Nan had told me stories of going up to Table Mountain when she was young with her parents, so actually being there myself and creating my own memories there 70 years later makes it extra special.” – Rebecca to Robert Gatward Jewellers
Ahead of the wedding day, Rebecca and Alex have been planning away, with plenty of time get every single detail just right. Rebecca credit’s Pinterest with making wedding life a lot easier – that and having plenty of wedding show dates in the diary! Rebecca and Alex will celebrate their marriage on the 24th of August 29 at Caswell House in Oxfordshire.
